Welcome! We are so excited that you are considering our Internal Medicine Residency Program for your training and development as an internist. Our program has a rich history and was established in 2000 under the AOA. We achieved ACGME accreditation in 2017 and most recently have become our own sponsoring institution as of July 1, 2022.
Our unique program offers broad-based training in general internal medicine and all subspecialties in a supportive and collegial environment. We are proud to care for our extremely diverse and culturally rich community in beautiful Long Beach, California. Our goal is to train and educate competent, confident and compassionate physicians to have the core knowledge and skills needed to succeed in all aspects of internal medicine. At CMC, you will be given progressive autonomy to prepare you for practicing independently while giving you the instruction and structure you need to succeed. We also focus on creating a supportive learning environment while building and fostering resilience in our residents. By having a smaller program it allows myself and our faculty to really get to know our residents on an individual level and helps promote mentoring each one individually for their own success. Our graduates have enjoyed a multitude of successful careers including matriculation into competitive fellowships as well as rewarding careers as hospitalists and community based physicians.
Please take a few minutes to browse our website and then feel free to contact us if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you.
Erica Kuhn, DO, FACOI
Undergraduate: University of California Irvine - However, I am a lifelong USC Trojans fan! Fight on!
Medical school: Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Vallejo, CA
I am married and have two children. We have 2 cats, Oreo and Donna. During my downtime, I enjoy skiing, water sports, Pilates, fashion, and recruiting residents to join me on the Peloton!
My personal interests include the business of medicine and mentoring residents both in medicine, career options and life in general. I love being an integral part in the lives of our residents and will discuss anything from coffee, sports, jewelry, cars, family, or your favorite cupcake place. I often try to include "life lessons" in my rounds and enjoy watching our residents grow both personally and professionally during their three years with us.
